AAC Petitions US Government Over FCT Minister Wike, Demands Visa Ban For Alleged Corruption

The AAC urged the US government to investigate the source of funds for the Florida property, seize the asset if found to be proceeds of corruption, and repatriate any stolen funds to Nigeria.*

The African Action Congress (AAC) FCT Chapter has petitioned the United States government, demanding an immediate investigation into alleged corrupt practices by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

In a letter dated September 1, 2025, and addressed to the US Ambassador in Nigeria, the AAC accused Minister Wike of illicit enrichment and abuse of office, citing media reports of his alleged acquisition of a $2million luxury mansion in Florida, USA.

In a statement signed by the party chairman, Agena Robert Ande, the party called the development a “stark reminder of the rot and corruption that threaten Nigeria’s democracy.”

The AAC urged the US government to investigate the source of funds for the Florida property, seize the asset if found to be proceeds of corruption, and repatriate any stolen funds to Nigeria

It also demanded visa bans and sanctions against Minister Wike and his wife if the allegations are proven true.

The statement read, “As a political party committed to deepening democracy, social justice, equality and human rights in Nigeria, the African Action Congress (AAC) FCT Chapter, write to bring to your attention a pressing matter of grave concern. The United States of America as a beacon of democracy and transparency, has a duty to uphold the principles of good governance and protect democratic values globally. In this regard, we are compelled to highlight the egregious corrupt practices of Minister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria.

“Our exhaustive investigations have revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse of office, illicit enrichment, and mismanagement of public funds by Minister Wike. Of particular concern is his acquisition of a luxury mansion in Florida, USA, worth $2 million, as published by Sahara Reporters and other Media on 20th August, 2025 which raises serious questions about illicit enrichment and cross-border money laundering. As a serving minister, Minister Wike’s actions are a stark reminder of the rot and corruption that threatens the very fabric of our democracy.

“As a democratic nation, the United States has a moral obligation to protect and promote democratic values globally. Allowing a serving minister to engage in corrupt practices and launder stolen funds from Nigeria in the US would undermine these values and compromise the integrity of the democratic process.

“We urge your government to take immediate action to investigate these allegations and take necessary steps to recover any funds stolen and taken to the United States or assets purchased in the United States by Minister Wike with such funds.”

The party, however, demanded that the United States government investigate Minister Wike’s assets and activities in the country, including the source of funds used to purchase the luxury mansion in Florida.

“Seize the purchased property in Florida if found to be proceeds of corruption, and repatriate the funds to the Nigerian government.

“Recover any other stolen funds or assets misappropriated by Minister Wike and his associates.

“Impose sanctions on Minister Wike and his wife, including a visa ban, if the allegations are found to be true.

“We believe that these actions are necessary to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability in governance, and to protect the integrity of the democratic process. As a global leader in promoting democracy and good governance, the United States has a critical role to play in ensuring that corrupt officials are held accountable for their actions.

“We look forward to your prompt attention to this matter and trust that your government will take all necessary steps to investigate these allegations and protect the public interest,” the party said.
