Hunger Protest: Diaspora group threatens to embarrass politicians abroad
That the planned Hunger Protest in Nigeria is gaining momentum across the globe is no longer news.
The news is that aside from Nigerians living in Nigeria, other Nigerians that live outside Nigeria are also throwing their weight behind the protest that has been christened #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria
The latest on the list is a group of Nigerians living outside Nigeria under the aegis of Nigeria Diaspora Integrity Initiative (NDII). In a statement by Comrade Joel Igbinosa, coordinator, the group threatened to make any part of the Western world that these evil politicians run to at this critical time uncomfortable for them.
In his words, ” We are sounding a note of warning to our politicians who are presently running to UK, Europe, Canada and America, to avoid the heat of the planned nationwide protest.
They can not destroy the Nigerian system, only to run to an organized clime as a safe haven while they allow our home land to go down. We shall mobilise our members and other Diaspora groups across Europe and America against them, search them out, and embarrass them during this period.
They should be proud of the system they have created and stay back to enjoy it.
This will be our own way of showing solidarity to the protest back home. ” The London based Joel, an ICT consultant, concludes
It will be recalled that owing to the planned nationwide Hunger Protest in Nigeria, the national assembly has gone on unscheduled recess, while several members of the present government (Legislators and Executives) have been reported to be making their way out of the country to avert untold consequences in case the protest turns violent.
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that most of Western countries like the USA, Canada, UK, etc, have sent a security alert to all their citizens in Nigeria.
